Dr. James Maholick, DMD
I love my profession for so many reasons. It allows me to have a positive impact on our patients, community, and our team. I see dentistry as a gift I have been given that allows me to meet and build relationships with families in our community on a daily basis. It allows me to restore and maintain an individual’s lost social confidence or open doors for someone that is trying to better themselves professionally or personally.
If I can change someone’s life by giving them the confidence to smile again, I see it as a huge opportunity and an even greater reward!

Education
Dr. James Maholick was born and raised in Columbus and graduated from Hardaway High School in 1993. After attending Columbus College for one year, he transferred to the University of Georgia to begin studies in biological sciences. Upon graduating from UGA in 1998, he was accepted to the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry and completed his Doctorate in Dental Medicine in 2002.
Dr. Maholick returned to his hometown and started his practice in the fall of 2002.
A Focus on Continual Learning
During his years of practice, Dr. Maholick has made continuing education a high priority in order to stay abreast of the latest techniques and technology.
He has taken advanced dental implant training to provide patients with a predictable and safe experience, as well as natural aesthetics and gorgeous smiles. His training in digital dentistry empowers him to provide same-day crowns and guided implants, which result in better aesthetic outcomes and reduced procedure time.
Patients benefit from Dr. Maholick’s advanced training, because many of our procedures are completed in house, so you may
avoid additional appointments and having to take time off work to see specialists.
Family and Community
Dr. Maholick’s wife Elicia is the love of his life, as well as the CFO of his business. She makes sure the lights stay on and
team members are paid and taken care of, and she handles most of the practice marketing. The couple
share two wonderful boys, Thomas and Jack.
They added a Golden Retriever, Rex, to the family in 2017. He is as goofy as he can be and enjoys nothing more than playing with the boys and fetching sticks at the lake. They also adopted a cat, Jimmy, from a patient several years ago. He is deaf but makes up for his lack of hearing with unbounding love and cuddles.
When he’s not working, Dr. Maholick is usually focused
on projects in his shop, playing soccer in an adult league, at the lake skiing, or salt-water fishing. When time and weather permit, the family loves to go fishing or just enjoy the ocean life.
Dr. Maholick has always enjoyed being able to give back to his community. For years, he served at the indigent care clinic at Columbus Technical College.
As an office, Dr. Maholick and the team have provided lunch to our Veterans on Veterans, donated toothbrushes to numerous groups in need, and have spent time in schools during dental education month to teach the younger generations the importance of maintaining good oral health.
Taking care of our community is Dr. Maholick’s way of saying thank you for taking care of this practice for the last 20 years.
